Song For Sarah Songtext
I came home the other night from a long string of shows
I felt tired and exhausted and I always knew that s the traveliing life
While I lay on my sofa my wife just fixed a drink for me
Then she handed me a letter that she wanted me to see
Dear Sir, I `ve seen your music show by chance last Friday night
At a county fair near Dallas and I thought you did alright
I loved the words and melodies and the way you sang your songs
Here s special wish I have and please, don t get me wrong
I was born in Midland Texas, bout 4o years ago
I lived my life not mot much exciting, quiet and real slow
There seldom ever was someone in my life who cared
And I guess no one will miss me when I m not longer there
Just got a few more months to go, that's what doctors say
And here s my special wish for from you
At least my name could stay
Dear Sir , please would you use it in one of your new songs
Just tell that I existed and some of me lives on
Bless you, Sarah Johnston
Sarah, I never met you, and i`m sorry , and I m sure I ll never see
Your face in a crowd , but now you re a part of me
I ll tell the world you were here , just me and my guitar
And I hope that you will hear it, whereever you are
