Life At The Bottom Songtext

with my jaw on the floor i sit and stare at the ruins of what i once thought was life. as the pictures that brought it all together slowly burn at the corners. and i think to myself how would i ever be able to face another day with only cold hands to comfort and silence to replace what i have lost. and people say look at how far we've come. think of how high we can go. well some wings must have been clipped. because even i can see the ones at the bottom only learn how to dig themselves a deeper hole. with both feet in the grave the defeated have been forgotten and all their wishes all the wasted prayers couldn't stop this hammer from falling on them. so when we throw ourselves into the flames don't pretend you can't understand. as if we would stand in your sun wating only to be raped. to be stripped of everything we have. by promises made and promises broken. what can you believe when no one believes in you. until there is no other choice that is left but to crawl every inch of the way back up towards the light. with a smile on your face that comes from knowing this can't last forever. and someday the sun will shine again and the rain will come and wash away the dirt.
