The Willow Wept

I stood by the banks of a river
and I watched the ripples go by
then I thought of my love's gone
gone off to see
and tears, and tears
you know the tears came coming from my eyes
so I sat beside the bushes of a whole lot of willows

when suddenly a breeze brought the willow to its knees

the willow said to me
get off your bending knees

so I moved as I wended my way
