A Mendicant Songtext
Well they wait as they beg
At the fountain-side
Where their coins and their dreams
And their wishes and schemes come to die
With a vengeful grin the mendicant
Regrets his mistakes on the day
When the fountain runs dry
He's staring at the sky
And the absence of light
Turns these grey days dark
Face away west to the sun
To the falling nights' cold
(It's time to get my story straight)
And we sink or we swim
Or we separate everything left
(It's time to get my story straight)
Well they stand, and they wait
At the river's edge
Where the wind stings your face
And will chase away
All of your warmth
Drag out: turn in
The mendicant sleeps
And he dreams
Of horizon-less seas
Implore the sears to tell
The stories of their inflictions
Under staring stars
(And I'm screaming at the wall
Like it should fall apart
Right in front of me)
(And I'm staring at the sky
And the absence of light
Paints these grey days dark)
At the fountain-side
Where their coins and their dreams
And their wishes and schemes come to die
With a vengeful grin the mendicant
Regrets his mistakes on the day
When the fountain runs dry
He's staring at the sky
And the absence of light
Turns these grey days dark
Face away west to the sun
To the falling nights' cold
(It's time to get my story straight)
And we sink or we swim
Or we separate everything left
(It's time to get my story straight)
Well they stand, and they wait
At the river's edge
Where the wind stings your face
And will chase away
All of your warmth
Drag out: turn in
The mendicant sleeps
And he dreams
Of horizon-less seas
Implore the sears to tell
The stories of their inflictions
Under staring stars
(And I'm screaming at the wall
Like it should fall apart
Right in front of me)
(And I'm staring at the sky
And the absence of light
Paints these grey days dark)
