Cement Sidewalk Songtext

that was then, this is now
could you imagine, in those great old western days
cement sidewalk, signs that say "stop"
fancy colored playgrounds, great big freeways
kids that say "eat shit" and flip you off
well this is what it all boils down to
one eye open at all times
while the other keeps a watch on you
all i can say
i'm sorry i can't help you
'cause you got no shoes
and you smell like a bum and all i can say is
time has grown up all around you
i'm sorry to say
it's all grown without you
could you imagine, in those great old western days
smog-filled suburbs, "frito lays"
sky scrapping towers in the middle of town
paper airplanes and cigarette-butts
that cover the ground
well this is what it all boils down to
a stab in the back, a kick in the pants
and a free ride downtown
as you pass by the nuclear plant
