Great Joy & Great Sorrow

If I am going to make appropriate descriptions
Of where I have arrived in my life
I should mention periods of great joy and great sorrow

If you are going to ask me detailed questions
I have not described myself well enough
But your presence of mind is appreciated
And your generosity is more than I expected

I have seen friends take unwise direction
I have a good friend I could not help
There are only two last emotions in my life
Great joy and great sorrow

But if you are trying to deprive me of experiences
I have not explained myself well enough
But your thoughtful words are appreciated
And your attention is more than I deserve
