One Last Thing Songtext

Now gone, long gone.
She's fighting the waves that would carry her back to the shore.
And she's lost and falling away.
Torn from the sheets so inviting, but now out of place. So I ask,

What was the worst thing I ever told you the last time you wandered out on your own?
For a second I thought you might change your mind.
Just know that sometimes those things that you wish for come true,
just not the way that you wanted them to.
And I'm pretty sure that you'll see that in the end.

Saying goodbye for the first time.
Wait til the moment is right before you close your eyes.
Just stay awake for one minute more.
Saving yourself for a chance to do better might bring you home.

What was the worst thing I ever told you the last time you wandered out on your own?
For a second I thought you might change your mind.
Just know that sometimes those things that you wish for come true,
just not the way that you wanted them to.
And I'm pretty sure that you'll see that in the end.

Now in the moonlight we stay.
And I am convinced by that look on your face, that we can last the night.

What was the worst thing I ever told you the last time you wandered out on your own?
For a second I thought you might change your mind.
Just know that sometimes those things that you wish for come true,
just not the way that you wanted them to.
And I'm pretty sure that you'll see that in the end.
