A Bird's Song

well, i'm sorry i didn't say goodbye
how i wish that i just could
go back in time & rewind
would you talk to me?
would you tell me why
you left me here on a beautiful day
with a clear blue sky?
& we lay where we land
with a bird in our hand
& we sleep where we lie
with the stars in our eyes
well, it seems unfair
but such is life
in this messed up world
unconditional love is hard to find
& someday i will learn to fly
