Getting Older In A Modern Time Songtext

Yeah I like to live my life like a novel
Keep filling pages up 'til they're all full
But I don't understand how I got here again
At the end of another chapter
I like to live my life like it's novel

But I'm getting older
Like my bones are about to break
And time is getting younger
Like the seasons, we're meant to change
But the distance between where I want to be
And where I am right now
It looks so open wide
It makes me feel behind
I guess that's getting older in a modern time

I grew up somewhere on a dead end
Sometimes a solid ground can still cave in
But I came and I saw from these deep canyon walls
To the waves as they roll off the ocean
Now I found myself somehow at a dead end

Yeah I'm getting older
Like my bones are about to break
And time is getting younger
Like the seasons, we're meant to change
But the distance between where I want to be
And where I am right now
It looks so open wide
It makes me feel behind
I guess that's getting older in a modern time

I know I'll find a way
To find what I've needed to say
The pain can't be erased
Just leave it on the page

Yeah I'm getting older
And my hair is growing thin
And I'm not getting any younger
But it always comes around again
And the distance between where I want to be
And where I am right now
It looks so open wide
I feel so far behind
I guess that's getting older in a modern time
Yeah that's getting older in a modern time
