For the banana is firm and substantial,

And may be used in a number of ways.



With more presence than leeks or asparagus,

And more charm than the brusque bamboo;

The banana has style and a curious smile,

Perceptible only to few.



The banana is not a romantic,

In the popular sense of the thing;

Approach it without care or caution,

And you trip on its slippery skin.



So be aware of the gallant banana,

When your tolerance seems to be thin;

And instead of the boot or the bullet,

Just put that banana in....
