Gentleman Soldier Songtext

(to the tune of the British Grenediers)
It is of a gentleman soldier as a sentry he did stand
He kindly saluted a fair maid by the waving of his hand
So boldly then he kissed her and he passed it off as a joke
And he drilled her into his senty box wrapped up in a soldier's cloak
For the drums did go with a ratter-tat-tat and the fifes so loudly play
Fair thee well Polly me dear for I must be going away
