She Left Songtext

She woke up and she packed her bags -
didn't quite know how to end it.
She stood up and she looked all around her
for something, anything, that would tell her to stay.

So she left him, in that cold room,
There was nothing left that was worth staying for.
So she left him, in that dark room,
She became memory, quickly fading.

He woke up to an empty space beside him
and knew at once that she was gone.
He stood up, and saw the letter by the window,
explaining everything and nothing in only a few words.

So she left him, in that cold room,
He reading the letter, she was crying.
So she left him, in that dark room,
He knew that it was for real.

He hopes that she'll be back someday
but in their hearts they know the truth:
Once gone, forever lost
like a ship on a stormy sea.

All their lives, looking for that one thing
that would tell them that they were wanted.
They never found it, but instead tried to pretend
That what they were living was the real thing.

So she left him, in that cold room,
There was nothing left that was worth staying for.
So she left him, in that dark room,
She was a memory that quickly faded.
