platitude blues Songtext

i used to live near the deserts edge where the dogs would bark as the tv blared. but the life of my dreams fell apart at the seams and is stranded in disrepair

so i play at random coffee shops where no one knows who i am.
a criminal for the modern age i live like i'm on the lam.

so i moved to the city where my hair turned white but the day and the night both were black.
i cut my hair so many times i don't know if it'll ever grow back

empty hollow, cold as a dead dog living loving searching out, whole hog
unusual like a leather vest, i move from scene to scene i can't find out where i belong so i just say what i mean.
and if you've a problem or a cause a talent for bein' an ass
then join my cause i need more applause cause my time is fading fast

i live in a town that is receding like my hairline and they say that i'm insane.
i can't figure out if what they are saying is real or is in my brain.
foetal shapes cloud my eyes real is not real anymore
girls gone wild dvds and racks of beer are my life raft to float ashore.

invest your time in something worth while
i beg of you dont waste time i stand among the many that do.
and it makes me lose my mind.
