Black Crow Medicine Songtext
Well late last night I heard a rappin' on my window pane
It was a black crow medicine bird hangin' from the telephone line
And it wailed and boiled out against the wind
On a cold road gutter side where the rain flows toward its grave
There was a sun stained leaf on the edge of an eddy and dream
And it drifted so easy like it was all it ever had to do
There was a crowd in my dream last night full of faces I had never known
Some in rags and some in robes all in a stubborn state of scorn
As the walls they tightened nobody got up to go
As I waited for the morning not sure what I was gonna do
I had a mind to make for a better time head down the road to some place new
When I felt upon my shoulder that black crow medicine bird
There was a woman in my dream last night and I'm sure I'd known her before
She held in one hand a photograph as she came to me out on the bower
And she took from me my oar like it was all I ever had to do
It was a black crow medicine bird hangin' from the telephone line
