My Dad's New Hit Song Songtext

I was sitting here watching oprah and holding the world by the balls. Just sitting here playing guitar when I decided to make a few phone calls. I called my brother but he was not home so I called up my best friend Dan. He was not home either so I called my sister and lo and behold. she was not home either so I called my father when I realized I didn't feel like talking to dad but by then he picked up and I had to. We talked about the weather and then I asked him if anything was new. an awkward silence developed, enveloped our casual conversation then suddenly, now that you mention it...

I wrote a new hit song, that's right I did, just like the kids, I wrote a song that's gonna make me famous and all the neighbors agree, say I should be on MTV I want you to play guitar, I wrote a new hit song.

The after silence created a vacuum that sucked me back into a hole, that I created when I was a kid to make up for a lack of control. I'll play your new hit song. That's right I did his stupid kid is gonna be in a band with his sixty year old dad, it just came out, just filling in the void and now I'm bangin a gong on my dad's new hit song.

Dad, is it one a those swing tunes, is it one a those; like the ones that sticks in your head and bounces around till you pick up a shotgun and sing tunes.

I guess we're kinda like garbage if that's the connection the kids need ti make, whatever it takes, to get the DJ to play our new hit song.

It won't be long, three minutes tops and then of course it stops and starts all over again like in that other hit song that goes like this...
