Embraces me
Like I was the serpent

The higher I climb up the tail of the vine....
to the top of the tree where the limbs become thin
and my head points at the ground
Shaking off branches and making mistakes
as I make my way up to the head of the snake
and I freeze and I think
tonight may be the tonight that I sleep with
