Scars Songtext

I thought a lot today about
Innocence betrayed about
Growing up insane
When no one even bothered to remember your name

Did we ever have a chance
To leave the scars of youth in the past?
When everything should have been safe
When we were young enough to dance

I come apart when I'm alone
When ancient history is free to roam
I wonder if I'll have kids someday
And if they'll grow up to be afraid

A generation raised in doubt
We all learned to fight alone
It's been a long road down
And our wounds will never show

I take in everything I see
From back of the room no one sees me
The oldest trick I ever learned
Isolation therapy

If I had one wish, I'd wish for innocence
We all expect more than this...
Did we ever have a chance?
