I Was Scared

It was an odd situation from the start.
It only took me a second to lose my heart.
Then my wings caught on fire.
You watched them burn.
Appearance can be deceptive is what I learned. But I might as well admit that I was only scared.
I was only scared of you and I wasn't prepared for this thing.
I lost the game.
What more can I say?
So I took this for granted and did without.
I turned the fire to ashes and locked you out. With you I was in heaven, without you I'm in hell.
If you ever felt sorry, you hid it well.
