Untitled Songtext

I rolled into your town around 4 o'clock
in the afternoon
that's how it always is
not really worth mentioning
And I spent a few hours in a coffee shop
wrote in my journal
had some hot tea
'cause it was cold out
hell, we were in Michigan
it's always cold there
at least that's what I hear
but you'd know best
cause you've lived there all your life

That night I was in this noisy bar
with lots of hipsters
and a couple of drunk guys
And you know how much I hate using microphones
but I kinda had to
'cause my voice hurt a bit
Too much singing and smoking
too many noisy bars
too many Grayhounds
not enough orange juice

The lights on the stage were warm as whiskey
and your eyes kissed me
that's when it hit me
That you were up front and singing every word
You knew all my songs
you knew everything
I knew you too
I knew all about you
all of your stories
your eyes betrayed you

So please don't ask me for my autograph
I don't really like that
makes me feel kinda strange
like I'm not human or something
like I'm some kind of angel
or maybe a demon
but what's the difference
no one can touch you
angels must get lonely
I'm lonely too
but at least I've got you
