East 14th Songtext

Downtown everything seems harder
Head down to dodge a glance from another
Cold winds carry cries from the shelter
Thoughts fixed so you try not to hear them
Up there they're glaring down on us
Planning the fate that's upon us
I know there's a way out from this
But struggle is the only thing that I can do right
The only thing I do right

Dear friend where's my inspiration
Smothered by this hesitation
Gray cloud you're the only friend that I can trust now
One grudge won't get you too far now
Pure hate is that baggage that you'll lug now
These eyes have seen enough to break a man
And let me tell you
Inside lies a heart so cold now
Think twice before you ask for a handout
One day you'll walk the path that I walk now
The road to nowhere

And I don't know where we lost salvation
But all these eyes need to open up and find some
And I hope these clouds will kindly cast themselves away
And brighten these days so full of animosity
