Shades Of Green Songtext
I came upon a brawl last night, in the streets at 3 AM.
Someone said it was as simple as black and white.
I ran into a neighborhood where poverty prevailed,
But I found love and a smile and a child.
Well he didn't really know what he was getting into,
Didn't really care either.
Guess who's wearing headgear like mine?
[CHORUS]
These shades of mine, they make everything green,
And I do believe I like it.
These shades of mine, they make everything red,
And red's my favorite color.
I could see a run-down old shack, and inside's a family setting up a (?)plan(?) -
"No troubled youth comes from here. Perpetual light shines upon them."
A wide open field on the edge of the dawn glistens with the drops of Mother Nature,
Aimlessly scattered by a troll, who spent the nighttime in a frenzy.
Too bad in the middle of it all's that rundown shack,
But to me with my shades, it looks like a mansion on a hill.
[CHORUS]
Somedays, I wake up just a little too depressed to deal with the everyday chores -
Like keeping my head up above the line, and trying to keep yours up too.
Lord, I try, but sometimes, you don't (?)help(?).
These shades of mine, they aren't working today,
And I really don't think I like it.
Sometimes these shades, they make everything blue...
And the trees and ???? are passing by,
Flowers have withered and turned to dust.
My heart, so content, has begun to digress,
And I fear that I'll never see green again...
