Unsung Songtext
There are evil words on the tip of my tongue
Evil words that should not be sung
There are names and hateful things
That I want to say
They are burning holes inside my throat
Making me gasp for air, makin' me choke
They're close, so close
They are about to overflow
They would flood the streets of that little town
And all my enemies would surely drown
But they would kill me and they'd kill you too
If I ever let them out, if I ever let them out
Instead I turn them into other things
Or I lock them up and put them away
Or go out at night and softly sing them
To the oldest of the trees
Or I put my lips against the ground
I shut my eyes and open my mouth
I let 'em out, I let 'em out
And they always sink right down
Right down into the ground
Evil words that should not be sung
There are names and hateful things
That I want to say
They are burning holes inside my throat
Making me gasp for air, makin' me choke
They're close, so close
They are about to overflow
They would flood the streets of that little town
And all my enemies would surely drown
But they would kill me and they'd kill you too
If I ever let them out, if I ever let them out
Instead I turn them into other things
Or I lock them up and put them away
Or go out at night and softly sing them
To the oldest of the trees
Or I put my lips against the ground
I shut my eyes and open my mouth
I let 'em out, I let 'em out
And they always sink right down
Right down into the ground
