Driving Home for the 1st Time Songtext

When I rolled into town, well I was excited
'Cause I wasn't sure if I'd be able to find it
I didn't have a map but I remembered that
Highway 37 was where it was at
So I took the road back to Paoli
Like I'd done so many times before
But instead of goin' west when I circled the courthouse
This time I turned north

As town approached I was goin' too fast
And I winded the mailman when I jumped the tracks
All of my stuff had flew up in the back
And my head hit the ceiling and I thought I would crash
But it was all okay
It was such a perfect day
I parked the car and I started the journey
That would take thirteen years to make

I met Tom in front of McDonalds
And he told me all about our new house
And I payed up all of my rent for the summer
So all I'd have to do was make some money for bills
And we talked about our band
We talked about our plans
And he knew this guy that could play the drums
And I didn't know it now but I was fallin' in love this town
I was fallin' in love with this town
