Cowards Songtext

I put my hands in the fire
I liked to climb a little higher
It wasn't easy for the family
I was born into

I never asked permission
To just start living
Cos that's what cowards do

When I was young and pretty
Getting mugged in the city
You could take my money
If that's what you call fun

But I learned not to back down
Or turn away from a shakedown
Cos only cowards run

Oh cowards come on fools
Forget the things you learned in schools
There are wonderful mistakes
Were gonna make together

Oh cowards can't you see
There is air around to breathe
The love we make tonight
Will last forever

I'm full of fire and vigour
A little piss and vinegar
I keep my heart wide open
But I'm not naive

I don't believe in telling lies
Or building life on compromise
Cos that's what cowards believe

We're looking up from the bottom
I can't deny there's problems
It's clear we gotta swim
Or else we gonna sink

I know it's gonna be difficult
I'm sick of people who are cynical
That's how cowards think

Oh cowards come and dance
You were born take a chance
There are answers unimagined
We can find together

Oh cowards can't you see
There is air around to breathe
The music our hearts make
Will last forever
It will last forever

I put my hands in the fire
I liked to climb a little higher
It wasn't easy for the family
I was born into

I never asked permission
To just start living
Cos that's what cowards do
