Grateful

I don't want change

I just want yesterday

But yesterday is yesterday

She was my best friend

Thought from beginning to the end

By now she's in a different land

Her journey complete, she helped me understand



I guess I've realized

Things change but we still go on

In my life, I'm alive

Seems strange, but I'm grateful for my days

Why did it end?

So suddenly, or did I pretend?

That everything with Mom and Dad was fine

Sometimes we ignore the most obvious signs

Together forever

A love so strong that nothing could sever

But blindness will preclude the sad

I see now that good can sometimes come from bad
