Feathered Shoulder Blades Songtext

i saw the sky fall
as the sun burnt out stars
she was what i called an angels self portrait
i threw in a sweaty towel to forfeit
the burns so delicate i can't even tell if it hurts me
she showed no mercy

i stayed out, i waited up to hold her late
on thresholds of massages, nestled in feathered shoulder blades
she was screaming out the messages, loud and clear
taking in a mouthful of tears

i felt a slight sting
her tongue's blood thirsty
she had white wings, grow out of her back
sat as a vampire bat on a lamp wire
sparking amber eyes as embers fly from campfires
unafraid of darkness

i stayed out, i waited up to hold her late
on thresholds of massages, nestled in feathered shoulder blades
she was screaming out the messages, loud and clear
taking in a mouthful of tears

i let a smile say no
she cried with her face wet
wearing a gold halo like a studded bracelet
days spent like this have no night
they've always seemed to perfectly last perpetually
yes i bet you will see

there's nothing wrong with never wanting to say goodnight...
it just had to be said

i stayed out, i waited up to hold her late
on thresholds of massages, nestled in feathered shoulder blades
she was screaming out the messages, loud and clear
taking in a mouthful of tears
